MELSMORKIES

MORKIES

Morkies are a single coated dog. They are considered to be hypoallergenic. They do not shed.
The Morkie is not an outside dog. They are prey to eagles, owls, coyotes and sad, but theft also. They are small and very skillful escape artists. Microchip your furbaby !  When walking  I would suggest a harness, a collar puts too much pressure on their delicate trachea.  Do not let your Morkie jump from high places. It can damage their knees. Morkies will typically live for about fourteen years. They come in a wide variety of colors. A morkie may have a silky coat like the Yorkshire Terrier, or a cotton coat like the Maltese. THIS IS A HIGH MAINTENANCE BREED when it comes to grooming. Some of the common health problems affecting Morkies: .Collapsed Trachea.
.Reverse Sneezing.     .Medial Patellar Luxation.( this is the canine version of a "trick knee")

STOP TAIL DOCKING!!

~~NO TAIL DOCKING~~
The Morkie's tail is part of their personality. It flips up over the back in a cascading flow of hair. Anyone that would chop body parts off of a defenseless little puppy is cruel and inhumane. The method of tail docking should be banned. It is nothing more than aesthetic enhancement. PLEASE DO NOT SUPPORT TAIL DOCKING OF THIS BEAUTIFUL BREED! (or any other poor little puppy)

vaccines

Puppies get a series of 3 to 4 vaccinations depending on what your vet recommends. Do Not Give the Leptospirosis vaccination to any Maltese or Maltese mixed breed. Severe allergic reactions can occur.
I would also advise that the Rabies vaccine be given at 6 months of age and not earlier.
HYPOGLYCEMIA or low blood sugar, is usually seen in very young puppies. I would suggest always having " a high calorie nutritional gel".
Signs of hypoglycemia include drowsiness, listlessness, a glassy look, and shaky or uncoordinated movement when walking

TEARSTAINS

LET'S TALK EYESTAINS
There is nothing worse than eyestains on my most beautiful fur models
Tearstains are very common for both the Maltese & Yorkie
They suffer from watery eyes and wet fur on their face
If you find a miracle cure for this PLEASE tell me
I can tell you this:
DRINKING WATER: Stainless steel bowls (wash everyday in vinegar & hot water)
Keep hair around eyes trimmed short
When bathing carefully rub Johnson's no more tears baby shampoo under eyes, rinse
Dry area several times daily with cotton squares
